How to use the parlay calculator
Pick your odds format (Decimal, Fractional or American), then type the odds for each selection in your parlay. Use + Add selection to add more legs and the × button to drop one. Enter your total stake, or tap a quick chip, and the calculator shows the combined odds for the whole ticket, your total return and your profit. Decimal is the format Canadian sportsbooks show by default, so for a Canadian slip you can usually leave it on Decimal.
Parlay terms in short
- Parlay / accumulator: one bet that links several selections, where every leg must win for it to pay.
- Leg / selection: a single pick inside the parlay.
- Combined odds: all the leg odds multiplied together, which is what your stake is paid out at.
- Total return: everything paid back if all legs win, your stake included.
- Profit: the total return minus your stake.
How the parlay is calculated
Each leg is converted to decimal odds, then multiplied to get one combined price:
- Combined odds
leg1 × leg2 × leg3 × ... - Total return
stake × combined odds - Profit
return − stake - Fractional → Decimal
(top ÷ bottom) + 1 - American → Decimal
+: odds ÷ 100 + 1 · −: 100 ÷ |odds| + 1
Why parlays pay big but land rarely
Because every leg has to win, the real chance of collecting is the product of each leg's chance, so it drops fast as you add selections. The bookmaker margin also stacks with every leg, which is why long accumulators are high-variance and tend to lose value over time even when each single pick looks fair. The big headline return is the trade-off for a low probability of winning.
