We to see a show on valentine's day. We went early to have dinner too.

We waited a long time to get seated, then more of a wait to place our order for drinks and dinner. One of us ordered a menu item and the waitress said "that isn't on our menu" ???
Our drinks sat on the bar for at least 10 minutes before we finally received them.

We waited an hour and still no food, water or offer of another drink or explanation as to why it was taking so long. We finally went to the manager as it was now 7:45 and the show started at 8. She was going to check on our order. Finally our waitress came and said she would put our dinner in take out boxes and bring them to us at the show. Unbelievable. When we finally got our food it was cold. We at least expected a discount or to not pay at all. Nope. The talk at the show was how awful everyone's wait for dinner was.
This isn't a great way to get business. We will never ne back and I imagine most everyone there feels the same way.

The facility sits inside the Kawartha Downs racetrack and speedway complex at 1382 County Road 28, Fraserville, ON K0L 1V0. How to Enter and Register at Shorelines Slots at Kawartha Downs

Entry procedures are straightforward, though identification controls apply at the door and at the players’ desk. The two subsections below cover age verification and loyalty enrolment.

Age and Identification Requirements

Access to the gaming floor is restricted to individuals at least 19 years old. An “ID under 30” policy applies, so guests should carry government-issued photo identification (driver’s licence, passport, or provincial card) for age confirmation. The adjacent racetrack and speedway have no age limit, but the slot area enforces the 19-plus rule consistently.

Enrolling in Great Canadian Rewards

Membership is free and can be completed on-site in a few minutes. Patrons should follow these steps:

  • Approach the players’ desk on the gaming floor with valid photo identification in hand.
  • Provide name, date of birth, and contact details so staff can verify eligibility.
  • Receive a Great Canadian Rewards card at no cost once details are confirmed.
  • Present the card at any slot machine to begin accumulating points on wagered play.

After enrolment, the same card functions across other Shorelines properties in Ontario, including Belleville, Peterborough, and Thousand Islands. Points carry between locations, allowing members to redeem them wherever they play.

Slot Machine Gaming Options

The gaming floor centres entirely on slot machines, with no roulette, dealer blackjack, or other live table products available. Approximately 150 units occupy the room, mixing classic single-line reels with multi-reel video formats that include bonus rounds and multiple paylines. Denominations start at $0.01, which accommodates low-stakes play as well as higher-value sessions.

Available Titles and Bet Levels

Featured titles include Lightning Link, Buffalo Gold, and Lock It Link, alongside a haunted-house video slot called Cats, Hats & More Bats (a 5-reel, 50-payline machine). On many units, including that title, wagers run between $0.01 and $0.10. Players select paylines and stake through the on-screen controls, then press spin to start a round; cash is inserted directly at the machine using the bill acceptor.

Great Canadian Rewards Program Benefits

The loyalty scheme rewards repeat play and links dining, gaming, and promotional perks under one card. Members earn points for every dollar wagered on slots and redeem them through the rewards catalogue. Promotions noted at the property have included Money Mondays, Play What You Eat, and Jolly Sundays, all subject to scheduled dates and member eligibility.

Dining Choices on the Property

On-site food service lets guests remain at the complex throughout a visit. The venues range from a casual café to a buffet room overlooking the track.

The principal options are listed below:

  • Player’s Lounge & Café: à la carte menu of appetizers, salads, burgers, and sandwiches, with a fully licensed bar, open daily 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
  • Grandstand Dining Room: buffet-style service with views of the racetrack, with reservations advised on race nights.
  • Concessions and Country Bar: quick snacks, light meals, and beverages in a relaxed setting.

Rewards members may apply eligible dining credits at these outlets, and specials are posted on the Player’s Lounge & Café social channels. Guests seeking additional choices can also use the food service tied to the racetrack events.

Racing and Entertainment

Kawartha Downs is recognised for live harness racing, scheduled from May through October. Post times begin in the evening, and on-site simulcast betting covers races from other North American tracks. The speedway portion of the complex hosts motorsport across the year, including NASCAR-format events, go-kart racing, and the Rusty Wallace Experience. Combining a racing card with slot play, or the reverse, is a common pattern for visitors to the property.

Banking, Deposits, and Withdrawals

Transactions on the gaming floor are cash-based, conducted in Canadian dollars at the machines and the cashier’s cage. The casino’s web services apply HTTPS with SSL/TLS encryption and follow PCI DSS standards for any electronic handling.

Withdrawing Winnings

Slot winnings are dispensed in cash, with substantial amounts paid at the cashier’s cage after identification checks. The methods and indicative limits below summarise reported payout channels.

Making a Deposit at the Machine

On-site ATMs provide cash access in Canadian dollars. To fund play, the patron inserts bills into the machine’s bill acceptor or presses the cash-in control, after which credits register instantly. For electronic channels at the cashier, the patron selects the method and enters any required card details before confirming the amount.

Security and Responsible Gaming

Player protection combines physical security with regulated responsible-gambling tools. The measures below operate under OLG and AGCO oversight.

The principal safeguards include:

  • RG Check accreditation awarded by the Responsible Gambling Council.
  • Voluntary self-exclusion options arranged through venue staff.
  • Surveillance systems and trained security personnel across the floor.
  • Spending and time limits that patrons can set with on-site assistance.

Players concerned about their habits can request these limits at the players’ desk and access OLG support resources. Identification is also required when processing larger payouts, which supports both compliance and account integrity.
