The concession food was horrible and extremely over priced! I'm from Grande Priarie with low standards for horse races and won't be here again. If you are holding cheap horse races at least level out with the food. The food was cheap and cold! Both the $12 putine and $14 perogies were cold! On a cold day too. Double negatives.

Thr only good seating here is for "members." The restaurant that overlooks the track was for them as well. Want to eat your overpriced cold food inside? Too bad, they have a total of 25 seats for the non members inside. Only other options is to go into the casino and watch the race on tv.

Never going here again.

We had such a fun time watching the horse races for our anniversary! Our waitress Aireen was fantastic and made sure we had everything we needed. The buffet was excellent and we left incredibly full. I appreciated the help from the girls up front when we went to place our bets - they helped us understand how to bet as well as how much (or little) we wanted to bet. Very helpful as we had never done anything like horse betting before and had absolutely no clue how to do anything. Its family friendly (although attached to a casino so the crowd is typically adults) and we will definitely be back with our kids to watch more races.

Always a fun time! Tasty food. Cold drinks. Great service!

The staff is the highlight at Century Mile Racetrack and Casino! Very friendly from guest services as you walk in. The slot attenders are usually smiling when I meet eyes with them. The bartenders are helpful with suggestions and prompt. This visit was no different. Told us the special too in case that helped with the decision making. From the casino floor wandered upstairs to the dining area where kids are welcome. Great meal with a view of the action. My favorite was the ginger beef made in house. Crispy, flavourful and not overly saucy. Just the way I like it. My mom enjoyed the big serving of shrimp and rigatoni. My dad and brother got the meatloaf to which they commented on the gravy and mashed potatoes. Everyone left satisfied and happy. Great service and value. Looking forward to my next visit!

Plenty of parking as well. Anyone with mobility issues I feel should probably get dropped off at the front door. There is an elevator to the dining room as well so no fret about the stairs.

Decided to try something new, so checked out the website and thought that looks like a good time. It's our first time here, and came with a group of 6. When I called to see if we needed reservations the lady advised to get them for the finish line buffet. All staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good but not a huge selection. We had a blast and will definitely be back.

Navigating the Three-Floor Layout

The entertainment centre spans roughly 89,700 square feet across three levels, each grouping specific functions. The first floor holds the main betting area, approximately 550 slot machines, electronic table games, 14 video lottery terminals (VLTs), and a restaurant with bar and lounge. The second floor adds indoor and outdoor grandstand seating, three private suites, a secondary betting area, and a buffet-and-grill service. The third floor opens onto a patio overlooking the racetrack and paddock. Guests move between floors to match their activity, whether gaming, dining, or watching a race.

Replay Arena

The Replay Arena is the venue’s electronic table-gaming zone. It houses electronic roulette, baccarat, and blackjack, plus newer slot installations. The automated roulette terminals accept multiple players at once, with on-screen prompts guiding each wager. This setup removes the need for a live dealer while preserving standard table rules.

Slots and VLTs

The gaming floor lists over 600 slot machines and VLTs, ranging from penny denominations to $5 spins (CAD). Selections include classic reel formats alongside recent releases. Players insert a Winner’s Edge card to track play, choose a denomination, then press the spin or bet control. Floor staff are positioned to explain machine functions and progressive awards.

Experiencing Live Horse Racing in Alberta

Century Mile holds Alberta’s only Grade A one-mile track and the sole one-mile circuit in Canada west of Ontario. The track features a 1,280-foot homestretch, among the longest on the continent. Live racing runs across more than 35 weeks per year, with a minimum of 100 race days. Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing fill the May-to-September window, while Standardbred (harness) racing takes over in fall and winter. Modern barns provide over 800 stalls plus veterinary space.

Race Formats and Schedule

Three racing disciplines appear on the calendar: Thoroughbred (jockey in a saddle), Quarter Horse (short-distance sprints), and Standardbred (driver in a sulky). Free guided barn tours let visitors observe how horses, trainers, jockeys, and drivers prepare. The second floor and outdoor apron remain family-friendly on live racing days.

Placing Bets and Off-Track Wagering

Pari-mutuel wagering is offered in every form across the on-site betting areas and the off-track betting (OTB) lounge, which seats at least 150 and streams races from across North America and select international tracks. First-time bettors can use kiosks or teller windows, where staff explain options at the visitor’s own pace.

To place a wager, guests follow these steps:

  • Select the track and race number on a kiosk or at a teller window.
  • Choose a bet type (win, place, show, or an exotic such as exacta or trifecta).
  • For multi-race options, designate each leg in sequence.
  • Enter the stake amount in Canadian dollars and confirm the ticket.
  • Retain the printed ticket to collect any payout after the official result.

The venue also supplies Betting Basics resources covering exotic bets, multi-race wager strategies, and signature wagers such as the Jackpot High-5. Tote facilities and grandstand sightlines keep the wagering process visible and interactive throughout the card.

Dining Venues and Lounges

Dining is integrated across the building under several distinct services. The Derby Restaurant operates inside the casino and runs a $4.99 Wednesday breakfast special (CAD). The Finish Line Restaurant offers tiered seating with a panoramic track view and a buffet menu on race days. Celly’s Sports Bar and Lounge, recently refreshed, pairs food with screened sports. A full-service kitchen supports the 300-seat restaurant capacity and suite catering.

Attending Signature Events

The venue programs themed and community events throughout the season, layering attractions on top of standard race cards. Recurring events include:

  • Horses N’ Hounds Races featuring dachshunds
  • The Corgi Derby
  • Bulldog races
  • First Responders Day
  • Fan Appreciation events
  • Movies at the Mile (outdoor film screenings)
  • Seasonal vendor markets

The flagship date is the Canadian Derby, held on the fourth Saturday of August (scheduled for August 22, 2026), a full card of stakes races headlined by the $200,000 Canadian Derby (CAD).

Enrolling in Winner's Edge and the Mobile App

Two tools extend value for regular visitors: the Winner’s Edge loyalty program and the Century Casinos Canada App. Both are free and connect guests to promotions across participating locations.

Members and app users gain access to:

  • Ballots into Winner’s Edge member draws
  • Free-play promotions
  • Dining discounts at The Derby Restaurant
  • Offers, promotions, and event updates via the app

Together these programs centralize rewards, so play tracked on the floor and notifications delivered to a phone keep members informed of current offers.

Joining Winner's Edge

Winner’s Edge is Alberta’s first province-wide casino loyalty program. Guests sign up at no cost at Guest Services or at a self-serve kiosk, then receive a physical card to insert during slot and VLT play.

Downloading the Century Casinos Canada App

The app is available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). Users search “Century Casinos Canada App,” install it, and enable notifications to receive location-based offers.

Responsible Gambling and Guest Support

The climate-controlled gaming floor includes seating, wayfinding signage, and visible support resources. Staff receive training in game rules and in recognizing safe-gaming behaviour. Responsible gambling information is displayed on the floor, and help resources are available on request. Security is present throughout the property. For nearby lodging, the Fairfield by Marriott Leduc County (Edmonton Int’l Airport) supports extended visits to Century Mile Racetrack and Casino.
