Painfully outdated selection of games. High-limit table game hours are awful. Staff seem indifferent and largely unwilling to help. Payouts on machines and table games are set far lower than any other place in the country. There simply isn’t much to offer here. The steak was so thin and tough I would never order it again. I feel like Nova Scotia has just been conditioning people to expect far less than the rest of the world when it comes to gaming entertainment.
Also, handpays take about 5x longer than any other casino in the country!

How to Reach the Casino on the Halifax Waterfront
The property sits beside Purdy’s Wharf and the dockyard clock, with many one-way streets around the harbour, so arriving from the north is the practical route. Drivers reach Upper Water Street by taking Cornwallis Street toward the water and turning right; the casino appears on the left. Guests arriving from Dartmouth use the Angus L. MacDonald Bridge, follow the ramp to Barrington Street, then turn left onto Upper Water Street. Halifax airport lies about a 30-minute drive away via Highway 118S, and the rail station sits roughly 1.5 kilometres from the entrance. An attached 550-car parkade connects to the floor, and a pedway links the casino to the Marriott Halifax Harbourfront, Scotia Square, and Purdy’s Wharf.
Playing the Slot Machines
Slots form the core of the floor, with over 500 video and reel machines drawn from suppliers including Bally, Williams, IGT, Aristocrat, Konami, and Shuffle Master. To begin, a player inserts a Player’s Club card, selects a denomination on the touchscreen, sets the bet per line, then presses spin. Before wagering, players should confirm these points at each cabinet:
- Denominations run from $0.01 (one penny) through $100 per credit.
- Branded titles include Game of Thrones, Lightning Link, Gold Pays, and Wild Life.
- Progressive units come in both in-link and stand-alone formats, flagged by overhead displays.
Floor representatives confirm any current slot tournaments and explain qualifying bets, so players should ask staff before committing to a progressive cabinet.
Table Games and the High Limit Crown Room
Main Floor Tables
Live tables open daily from 2pm to 3am and cover blackjack, Free Bet Blackjack, Blackjack Switch, single-zero and double-zero roulette, Let It Ride Bonus Poker, Mississippi Stud (with the Three Card Bonus Bet), Texas Hold’Em Bonus, and EZ Baccarat. Craps runs on Friday and Saturday nights only. To join, a player places a buy-in on the layout and waits for the dealer to exchange cash for chips between hands.
The Crown Room
The High Limit Crown Room operates daily from 5pm to 4am for larger stakes. It offers blackjack with the optional Kings Bounty Side Bet, single-zero roulette, EZ Baccarat, and Let It Ride. Higher table minimums apply here than on the main floor.
Area | Hours | Featured Games |
Main floor tables | 2pm–3am daily | Blackjack, roulette, Mississippi Stud, EZ Baccarat |
High Limit Crown Room | 5pm–4am daily | Blackjack (Kings Bounty), single-zero roulette, baccarat |
Poker room | Wed–Sat, 4pm–2am | No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha |

How to Register
Membership in the Player’s Club is free and is the first action recommended on arrival. A visitor presents photo identification at the guest services desk, completes a short form, and receives a loyalty card within minutes. The card is then inserted into any slot or presented at a table so that wagering accumulates points.
Membership Tiers and Redemption
The programme runs across four tiers based on point totals. Points convert to cash offers, free play, dining, and event tickets, and the card also unlocks the parking perk described later.
Tier | Points Required | Sample Benefits |
Bronze | Entry level | Daily buffet access, gift offers |
Silver | 2,000–9,999 | Weekly promotions, member specials |
Gold | 10,000–39,999 | Enhanced offers, event tickets |
Club Privé | 40,000+ | Priority access, exclusive rewards |
Members aged 55 and over qualify for Club 55 every Tuesday, which provides $5 Free Play plus draw entries.
Dining and Refreshments
Several outlets serve the floor at Casino Nova Scotia Halifax, each handling a different style of service. Guests can choose among the following:
- 3Sixty Buffet Restaurant: nightly buffets and a Prime Rib service on Fridays and Saturdays.
- 3Sixty Lounge: casual dining paired with live entertainment.
- Trapeze: East Coast plates with harbour views.
- Casino Café: lighter items such as sandwiches, salads, and pastries near the gaming area.
Free coffee, tea, soft drinks, and snacks are available on the gaming floor, and to claim the buffet promotions (frequently priced near $9.99) a guest presents the Player’s Club card at the till.
Hours, Parking, and Responsible Gaming
Operating Hours
Summer hours run 24 hours daily, while winter hours are 10am to 4am Sunday through Thursday and 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. The casino closes on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Remembrance Day, and Christmas Day.
Parking Perks and Player Safety
To claim complimentary parking, a guest spends at least $10 on dining, gaming, entertainment, or any combination, then presents the Player’s Award Club card with the receipts at the guest services desk. The connected Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel (331 rooms, 21 suites) offers a Playcation package with a $10 Rewards Play voucher and a $5 Trapeze credit per person, bookable Thursday to Sunday. Responsible-gaming support is delivered through the on-site GameSense program, which supplies information booths and tools for managing play, and identification is verified for significant transactions to meet provincial regulatory standards.
