I spent 2 nights there this past weekend. My room was very nice and very clean. The washroom was nice and bright and very clean.
(Im always concerned when hotels and restaurants have a dark lite washrooms. Im always wondering "are they hiding the dirt?")
Everyone at the front desk was very helpful.

I did go to the casino part for a few hours on my 1st night.
The restaurant food was ok, nothing impressed me. (the ceasar salad was all salad dressing. The rice had no flavor. The jerk chicken and fish was the only thing that had taste. Also, the only thing I ate. (along with a brownie)
The floor where i sat was very dirty, food everywhere and my seat was dirty too. I was not impressed.
The casino itself was clean and bright. The customer service lady and gentleman was very nice and helpful.
( the ones who gave me my player card)

I definitely would go back to stay at the hotel again but would eat somewhere else.

Garbage casino odds. First time ever being here and ill never come back. I just threw out my players card at the front door in the trash. Getting food was slow and its not even busy. Wings werent cooked the best. Can only order a single shot drink with my meal. Wing are half priced and yet my bill is still 30 for wings, fries and a drink. Worst experience ever.

It smells very musty upon entering, the hotel is very outdated. I understand since this is on a property with a casino the owners may not want to include any amenities, but since this is the only fairly decent hotel in Port Perry that is pet friendly we stayed here.
Almost $400 a night, no meals included, no pool, it took a long time for the room to cool down (no air conditioning running when we went in the room)
We weren’t interested in the casino; we wanted to visit beautiful Port Perry on our last stop of our week long road trip.
Port Perry didn’t disappoint, but this motel did.
It’s too bad. They could really take advantage of being a large hotel in a beautiful area.
We had a wonderful dining experience at the restaurant inside the Great Blue Heron. The food was absolutely worth it—flavorful, warm, and generously portioned. The servings were more than sufficient hat my family and I were able to share, making it even more enjoyable. The plating was well done, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. On top of that, the service was excellent—the staff was incredibly polite, helpful, and welcoming. We left completely satisfied and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend, the only suggestion we have is additional food on the menu if possible.

Gaming Floor and How to Start Playing

Players enter from the front atrium onto the gaming floor, where signage separates slots, live tables, and electronic terminals. Staff at the reception booth issue a rewards card on request, which players insert before wagering to track points. The floor holds the following primary categories:

  • Slot machines: over 600 units spanning three-reel classics, video slots, and linked progressive jackpots.
  • Live table games: 16 dealer-operated tables covering card and wheel formats.
  • Electronic table games: 10 terminals for self-paced play at lower limits.

To begin, a patron loads cash or a ticket into a machine, sets the wager with the on-screen buttons, then presses spin or places chips at a staffed table. Cash is available at the cashier (credit and debit accepted) and at on-floor ATMs.

Electronic Table Games

The 10 electronic terminals replicate roulette, blackjack, and baccarat at a single seat. These stations carry lower minimum bets and faster round cycles, which suits newcomers learning the rules without dealer interaction.

Live Table Games and Limits

Dealer-run games include Blackjack, Roulette, Squeeze Baccarat, Let it Ride, Mississippi Stud, Four Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, and High Card Flush. Reduced limits start at CAD 15 for Blackjack and CAD 10 for several poker-style games. A high-limit area handles larger wagers.

Slot Machines and Wager Ranges

Slot denominations run from CAD 0.01 to CAD 5.00 per spin, covering low-budget and higher-stake sessions. Recent additions include 26 titles such as Coyote Moon Desert Nights, Dragon & Phoenix Bowl, Huff N’ Even More Puff (jackpots up to 7,500× the bet), Wu Jin Pen Panda, and Spooky Link. Each cabinet displays paytables and feature rules on screen before play.

Poker Room Access and Stakes

The dedicated poker room runs cash games daily and seats players on a first-come basis. To join, a patron checks in with the floor host, who adds them to the waiting list or assigns an open seat; calling ahead is advised at peak periods. The room spreads limit and no-limit Texas Hold’em alongside Omaha. A bad-beat jackpot is periodically active, and a menu of burgers, sandwiches, and pub items is served at the table.

Placing a Wager at the Great Canadian Sportsbook

Great Blue Heron Casino Ontario operates an on-site sportsbook, one of a small number of retail betting outlets inside Canadian casinos. Bettors review the odds boards and televised events, then use either the staffed window or a self-service kiosk. At a kiosk, the user selects a sport, chooses a market, enters the stake, and prints the ticket for redemption after settlement. Large screens and a bar area support viewing during live fixtures.

Joining Great Canadian Rewards

Membership in Great Canadian Rewards is free and grants new sign-ups up to CAD 25 in free-play credits. The program runs across multiple Great Canadian Entertainment properties and applies a five-tier structure. Registration is completed at the reception booth or through the official website. The steps below outline the on-site process:

  1. Present a valid government-issued photo ID at the rewards desk.
  2. Provide contact details for the membership record.
  3. Receive the physical rewards card and activate it.
  4. Insert the card into any slot or terminal before play to accumulate points.

Once enrolled, members earn points on gaming, dining, and qualifying hotel stays, then redeem them as detailed below.

Tier Structure and Redeeming Points

Each successive tier adds perks, including dining and hotel discounts, pre-sale concert access, and members-only promotions. Accumulated points convert to free-play credits, cash back, and merchandise at the rewards centre. Table-game players earn comps based on recorded play level.

Registration Steps

Online applicants open the website, select the registration link, complete the membership form, and confirm via email. The account is then accessed with an email address and password. Card collection for online registrants is finalized in person on the first visit.

Booking a Stay at the Hotel

The attached four-storey hotel holds 116 rooms and connects to the gaming floor by a covered walkway. Rooms start near CAD 135 per night and include a flat-screen television, air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a fridge. Guests also reach the on-site fitness centre and business centre.

Reserving a Room

A reservation is placed through the casino website or by phone. Online users register an account, select dates, choose a room type (from twin rooms to suites), and confirm with a credit or debit card. Phone bookings let patrons ask about current packages before paying.

Dining, Entertainment Venue, and On-Site Services

The Water’s Edge restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily (typically 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET), while the Quick Bites kiosk handles fast snacks near the floor. The live-events venue spans 12,637 sq ft, with a ceiling near 4.4 metres and capacity around 800, configurable for banquet, theatre, or general-admission layouts. Core on-site services include:
