How to use the bet payout calculator

Pick your odds format (Decimal, Fractional or American), type in the odds and your stake, and the calculator instantly shows your total return and your profit. Use the - and + buttons or the quick chips to set a stake fast, and choose a currency to label the amounts. Decimal is the format Canadian sportsbooks display by default, so if you are copying odds straight off a Canadian book you can usually leave it on Decimal.

Return, profit and stake

  • Stake: the amount you put on the bet.
  • Total return: everything paid back to you when the bet wins, your stake included.
  • Profit: the total return minus your stake, so what you actually win on top.
  • Odds: how much the book pays per unit staked. Decimal odds already fold your stake into the number.

How the payout is calculated

Odds are routed through decimal first, then the payout follows two simple steps:

  • Total returnstake × decimal odds
  • Profitreturn − stake = stake × (decimal − 1)
  • Fractional → Decimal(top ÷ bottom) + 1
  • American → Decimal+: odds ÷ 100 + 1 · −: 100 ÷ |odds| + 1

Total return already includes your stake

A common mix-up is reading the total return as pure winnings. With decimal odds the figure you see is everything coming back to you, your stake included. At odds of 2.00 a 100 stake returns 200, but your profit is only 100, because half of that return is just your own stake handed back. Always check whether a quoted payout means return or profit before you compare offers.
