How to use the bankroll and unit size calculator
Enter your total bankroll and the share of it you are willing to risk on a single bet, your risk per unit. Tap a chip for a common level (1% is cautious, 2 to 3% is moderate, 5% is aggressive) or type your own. The calculator shows the cash value of one unit and how many units your bankroll holds. The two boxes below convert any bet between units and money, so you can size a play in seconds. Pick a currency to label the amounts.
The terms in short
- Bankroll: the total amount you have set aside for betting, separate from everyday money.
- Unit: your standard bet size, set as a fixed percentage of the bankroll.
- Risk per unit: how much of the bankroll one unit represents, often 1 to 3%.
- Units in bankroll: how many bets of that size your bankroll could cover.
How it is calculated
Unit staking keeps every bet the same fraction of the bankroll:
- One unit
bankroll × (risk % ÷ 100) - Units in bankroll
100 ÷ risk % - Units → money
units × unit size - Money → units
amount ÷ unit size
Why a small unit survives a bad run
The point of unit staking is to live through the losing streaks that every approach hits. At 1% a unit, a bankroll covers a hundred bets, so even a long cold run leaves plenty in reserve. Push the unit up to 5% and a handful of losses takes a real bite, and a bad week can end the bankroll entirely. Keeping the unit small is the simplest protection against variance, and the bankroll itself should only ever be money you can comfortably afford to lose.
