How to use this calculator

Pick a baccarat bet, enter your stake and choose a currency. The calculator instantly shows the payout odds, the profit if the bet wins, your total return (stake plus profit) and the house edge for that bet. The Banker bet already includes the standard 5% commission on winnings. For the Tie and pair bets the caption compares the fair payout - what the odds suggest the bet should pay - with what the casino actually pays, so you can see the gap. Remember that total return includes your original stake, while profit is the return minus that stake.

The baccarat bets, explained

  • Banker - bet the Banker hand wins. Pays even money minus a 5% commission, and carries the lowest house edge in the game at 1.06%.
  • Player - bet the Player hand wins. Pays even money with a 1.24% edge.
  • Tie - bet both hands finish level. Usually pays 8:1 (a brutal 14.36% edge); the rarer 9:1 table drops it to 4.84%.
  • Player Pair / Banker Pair - bet that hand's first two cards match in rank. Pays 11:1 with a 10.36% edge on an eight-deck shoe.
  • Either Pair - bet that either hand is dealt a starting pair. Pays 5:1.

On a Banker or Player bet, a Tie is a push - your stake is returned rather than lost.

How the odds and house edge are worked out

The figures are fixed by the eight-deck math of baccarat, so this calculator never needs updating. Across all hands the Banker wins about 45.86%, the Player about 44.62% and a Tie about 9.52%. The house edge is the gap between what a bet pays and its true chance of winning.

  • Profit if it winsprofit = stake × (a ÷ b)
  • Banker profitprofit = stake × 0.95
  • Total returnreturn = stake + profit
  • House edgeedge = P(lose) − P(win) × (a ÷ b)

The deck count matters for the pair bets: an eight-deck shoe gives a 10.36% edge, while a six-deck shoe pushes it to about 11.25%. The figures here assume the eight-deck shoe used by most tables.

Where the value is: the Banker bet is the single best play in baccarat at a 1.06% edge, with the Player close behind at 1.24% - both far better than almost any other table game. The Tie and pair side bets pay big but cost you 10% to 14% per bet, so they are entertainment rather than value. Most Canadian tables deal an eight-deck shoe.
