How to use the odds converter
Enter a number in any one of the four boxes (Decimal, Fractional, American or Implied Probability) and the other three fill in automatically. Use the - and + buttons to nudge the decimal odds, and the stake chips for quick amounts. Pick a currency to see your payout. Total return is everything you get back including your stake; profit is the return minus your stake. Decimal is the format Canadian sportsbooks show by default, American is common at US books, and fractional is mostly used in the UK and Ireland.
Odds formats in short
- Decimal (2.50): total return for every 1 unit staked, so a 1 bet returns 2.50.
- Fractional (6/4): profit relative to stake, so 4 staked wins 6 in profit.
- American (+150 / -200): a plus number is the profit on a 100 stake; a minus number is the stake needed to win 100.
- Implied probability (40%): the break-even chance those odds represent.
How the conversion is calculated
Every format is routed through decimal odds, then converted out:
- Decimal → Implied %
100 ÷ decimal - Decimal → American (≥ 2.00)
(decimal − 1) × 100 - Decimal → American (< 2.00)
−100 ÷ (decimal − 1) - Decimal → Fractional
decimal − 1, snapped to standard odds - Fractional → Decimal
(top ÷ bottom) + 1 - American → Decimal
+: odds ÷ 100 + 1 · −: 100 ÷ odds + 1 - Implied % → Decimal
100 ÷ percentage
What implied probability means
Implied probability is the break-even win rate baked into the odds. Add up the implied probability of every outcome in a market and the total comes to more than 100%, and that surplus is the bookmaker's margin (the "vig"). It is why the odds you are offered are always a little shorter than the true chance.
